Overview
Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RAJUVAS) is a state agricultural university located in Bikaner. It was established on 18th May 2010 by the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Act, 2010 of the Government of Rajasthan, amended in 2013. The University was established to plan, initiate, guide, coordinate, and monitor research in the field of Veterinary and Animal Science. The first vice-chancellor of RAJUVAS was the then Governor of Rajasthan, Professor A.K. Gahlot. Its constituent colleges are College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Bikaner (CVAS Bikaner), College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Navania, Vallabhnagar, Udaipur (CVAS Udaipur) and Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (PGIVER). It also has 65 other institutes awarding two-year diplomas.
RAJUVAS is in the heritage and exotic palatial buildings having magnificent pillars, richly carved fire mantles and Italian colonnades of the erstwhile Ganga Avenue, housing the College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Bikaner (since 1954) and its precincts, spreading over 200 acres of land. The university is located at Vijay Bhawan Palace Complex, Veterinary University Road, Near Deen Dayal Upadhyay Circle, Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. The nearest railway station is the Lalgarh Junction Railway Station, and is around 15 minutes away from the RAJUVAS. Students coming from outside the State can take a cab or a bus from the Jaipur International Airport. Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Science is well connected by all modes of transportation.
RAJUVAS has the approval of UGC. It is accredited by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). A total of seven Veterinary institutions are constituent colleges of RAJUVAS while four Veterinary colleges in Rajasthan are affiliated to the university.
RAJUVAS offers UG (BVSc & AH), PG (MVSc), Doctorate (PhD), Two-year Diploma and Multi Skill Development Programs in Veterinary Science. The University conducts the Rajasthan Pre-Veterinary Test (RPVT) exam for admission to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.VSc & AH) and a Pre PG Entrance Exam for the Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc) course. Additionally, a Pre P.hD entrance test is conducted for admission to Ph.D. programs. RAJUVAS also offers a two year Animal Husbandry Diploma Program (AHDP) in 75 different institutes. The University accepts NEET scores for admissions.
The campus facilities at RAJUVAS include Library, Hostel, Auditorium, Sports facilities, Wi-fi and Labs. Additionally the university provides Anti ragging helpline, Wardens, Student Union, NCC unit, NSS Unit, Games, Placement Cell and much more for the well-being of its students and staff.
The Placement and Career Counselling Cell at Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences provides Job Placement assistance/opportunities, Possibilities for Internships and Career Counselling to its students. RAJUVAS Placement Cell provides training to the students from the very first year rendering Placement activities such as Resume preparation, Mock tests, Interviews, Skill Development Programs, Career Fairs, and many other activities.
The Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner has been established for the purpose of development of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in the state of Rajasthan in specific and in the country in general by ensuring proper and systematic instruction, training, research and extension in up to date system of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and its allied sciences. The University is marching ahead to provide technical and scientific support for transforming state animal husbandry from sustainability to improved profitability. Improved production in association with productivity spurts has led the State to be one of the leaders in the country for milk, meat and wool production with the support of scientific and technological interventions and a favorable policy environment.
